What to Expect

Your First Visit

The first thing you'll note when you call our office is that you are treated like a person - a real person. Donna, our New Patient Advocate, has a unique way of making everyone feel welcome and as you get to know her, you find that here, you are treated like family.

You'll notice a difference from the moment she picks up the phone to speak with you. Donna will give you all the details of what to expect, when to arrive, what to bring and how much time you need to set aside so that we can dig into your health concerns.

Q & A Time with the Doctor

We'll discuss at some length, your history so that I can get a better picture of your past and your present overall health. No detail is too small to have a negative impact on your health and this is a time for us to uncover things that you may not have considered as a contributor to your present situation.

The Physical Examination

Next up, the evaluation of your nerve system. Using Surface Electromyography (SEMG) and Thermal screening, we will gain volumes of information on how your body has and is adapting YOU to the stress (Physical, Chemical, Emotional) your body has had to deal with.

If you are experiencing significant discomfort, I may choose to adjust you on this first visit. Typically though, I ask that you wait until we have had a chance to go over your exam findings. It's not that I don't want to relieve you of your symptoms, but it is important that you fully understand what the cause of that problem is. Your decisions from this point on are based on what you know -- and until you know what I know, what are you going to base your decision on?

That's why we created what we call, our Report of Findings, which we will review with you on your second visit to our office.

Day 2 - Report of Findings

There is an important decision for you to make. Perhaps, the most important one that you will ever make on your own behalf. So you will want all the facts before choosing your path.

Your second visit is designed to go over what we learned about you during your exam, my history taking and our dialogue about your wants, needs and concerns. This will help you set some goals. The Report of Findings will help you understand what's been the underlying cause of your health challenges and at the end of your report, we will go over your individual plan for correcting them.

Initial Intensive Care Plan

Once you have all the information and I've answered all your current questions about my recommendations, we will begin. The starting point is known as Initial Intensive Care. It is designed to stabilize you as quickly as possible.

While we just might reduce or eliminate your pain in just one or two sessions, it doesn't signify that the cause of that complaint has been fully addressed. It simply means that we have managed to take you back to a level where your body was asymptomatic; not feeling any pain or symptom. While this is always our hope, the next few weeks are critical to the final outcome.

Stabilization Care Plan

Stabilization requires focused attention, both yours and mine, towards 'reprogramming' how the body deals with adaptation to the underlying stimulus that eventually became manifest in your daily life as that symptom or pain. We'll talk more about that when the time comes.

Each visit will take about ten minutes of your time. I don't know about you, but most of the people I see have pretty busy lives. In today's world, who doesn't? So our efforts, from the moment you enter the office to when you confirm your next appointment with Donna, is to get you back into your day as quickly as possible. That doesn't me we rush. It just means we are focused on what your needs are.

What You Can Do

We would like you to assist us by making sure that when you come in, your cell phone is off and that once you step inside the office, let the day's worries and to-do list slip to the background of your mind. We want you to be focused on your healing as much as we are and that's hard to do when distracted by all the 'have-to' stuff. You'll be back at it soon enough, so while here, let this be your respite from the rush. Sit back, relax, enjoy the atmosphere here and heal.

Need More Time with the Doctor?

If there is ever something you feel you need to discuss with me alone and need extra time, you can set that up with Donna before your next session. However, sometimes things just pop up and I will always do my utmost to be available to discuss whatever problem you are being challenged by, time permitting.

Re-Evaluations

After the appropriate time, an appointment to reevaluate you using the same equipment (SEMG/Thermal Scan) we used during your initial examination will be set up. We will also schedule a follow-up ROF in which I will go over the comparative results. At the conclusion, I'll ask you to make another decision. Do you want to continue towards optimal health or are you ready to stop where you are. Whatever your decision, I will support you 100%.

Always a Choice of Action

I work with you to find your best options and then it is always your choice. I find that this relationship supports the healing better. If circumstances change, all I ask is that you let the office know so that we can respond appropriately.

Dr. Michael Asks some important questions of interest to Simi Valley residents - Chiropractor Simi Valley Dr. Michael Asks...

Why are some people allergic to pollen and others aren't?
It's not the pollen. Chiropractors know that if it were, everyone would be allergic to pollen, nuts and pet dander. But that's not the case. It's the person, not the pollen! If you live in Simi Valley and your stress levels are high, then each year the grass, the trees or the weeds put your nervous system over the top. Many report that chiropractic care helps reduce the frequency and severity of their allergic response.
How do most people deal with subluxations?
First, they try to ignore them. When they don't, they go to the medicine cabinet to stop their brain from feeling the symptom. Later, back surgery may be threatened. Sadly, it's not until this later stage that they consult our Simi Valley chiropractic office. Yet, even with the delay, most are delighted by the results produced by today's chiropractic care. Contact us and let's get started.
