Dr. Michael Willis, D.C.
Lecturer/Writer/Experimental Leader/Chiropractor

Simi Valley Chiropractor, Dr. Michael WillisI wasn’t always a chiropractor. I wasn’t born into a chiropractic family. I didn’t even know what a doctor of chiropractic was until the spring of 1971. That’s when, after returning from Viet Nam in April of 1970, that the injury I sustained to my neck during my tour of duty, had gotten so bad that I was losing the grip in my right hand. As a professional drummer, that’s not a good thing.

Lucky for me, one of the musicians I was working with saw a chiropractor. What I learned from that experience, would change my life’s trajectory 20 years later. By the way… there are no ‘lucky’ coincidences. We are all meant to do something specific in this life… but that’s another story.

The Road Less Traveled

After 20 years of being on the road, I decided that I wanted to settle into something just as meaningful for me as music. It seemed that everyone I began to talk to about a change in my direction was either a chiropractic patient, student, or doctor of chiropractic. Hello!

"What I Learned, Changed My Life!"

I began to work for two chiropractors who needed someone to facilitate their training seminars in applied kinesiology; a technique in uncovering the underlying cause of someone's inability to "self correct". As I sat there, I began to make the connection between what I ate, drank, thought, did... all of it, mattered, and that my choices had a profound influence on my life. What I learned, changed my life forever and I decided that this was what I was now to do.

School is Never Out!

I met my wife, that’s her on our opening page, Dr. Laura Paine, while attending Cleveland Chiropractic College, Los Angeles.

We practiced as a team after graduation and eventually (hey, I'm a guy) realized that we "got" each other on every level. Thank God she waited for me and said, "Yes"! We were married in 2002. She is entering a new level of health care; psychology and is currently offering programs in life coaching and weight transformation. Over the years, we have discovered that 90% of the physical complaints we deal with are emotionally driven.

It has become of personal interest to us, to create a wellness center that could look at all aspects of a person's health quotient; Body, Mind and Spirit. That quantum approach to health care is the nexus for our creation of Better Health & Wellness.

Dr. Michael Asks some important questions of interest to Simi Valley residents - Chiropractor Simi Valley Dr. Michael Asks...

Why are some people allergic to pollen and others aren't?
It's not the pollen. Chiropractors know that if it were, everyone would be allergic to pollen, nuts and pet dander. But that's not the case. It's the person, not the pollen! If you live in Simi Valley and your stress levels are high, then each year the grass, the trees or the weeds put your nervous system over the top. Many report that chiropractic care helps reduce the frequency and severity of their allergic response.
How do most people deal with subluxations?
First, they try to ignore them. When they don't, they go to the medicine cabinet to stop their brain from feeling the symptom. Later, back surgery may be threatened. Sadly, it's not until this later stage that they consult our Simi Valley chiropractic office. Yet, even with the delay, most are delighted by the results produced by today's chiropractic care. Contact us and let's get started.
